As the first anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs case, which overturned Roe v. Wade, comes on Saturday, the White House has a slew of events scheduled to take place all week, according to Breitbart. With the Dobbs decision returning the issue of abortion back to the states, the Biden administration is making their stand in defense of abortion advocacy. The Biden administration is coming out strong in defense of abortion, as many aides reportedly believe it will be a key issue in the 2024 election.
First Lady Jill Biden began the events on Tuesday by having a roundtable meeting with women who have “allegedly been denied medical care” since the Supreme Court’s decision. On Friday, President Biden and Kamala Harris will join the Democratic National Committee in Washington to welcome the largest pro-abortion organizations in the country including Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and EMILY’S List. The events will conclude with a speech by Kamala Harris in which she will “rally supporters, advocates and community leaders on abortion access.”
According to a report from a White House official speaking to The Hill, Harris’ speech will focus on “contrasting the Biden administration’s pro-abortion efforts with Republicans’ efforts to pass supposedly ‘extreme legislation.'” Harris is also expected to express the White House’s support of federal legislation that would codify the “right” to abortion. The vice president will also join MSNBC’s Joy Reid for a roundtable conversation about abortion on Tuesday.
The White House’s efforts spreading their pro-abortion messaging appears to be a major strategy for the upcoming election. Trying to win over the votes of those who find abortion to be the greatest issue in America, the Biden administration is promising to stick by the organizations that thrive on abortion as well as the people who want abortion access to be reinstated nationwide.
