CUNY Law Commencement Speech Rallies Hatred for America and Israel

Anti-Semitism is a growing problem across the United States, and its influence over the younger generations is not a minor problem. According to Fox News, the commencement speech for the law school at the City University of New York (CUNY) was delivered by outspoken anti-Israel activist Fatima Mousa Mohammed, who was selected by the class to speak at the CUNY law ceremony. Mohammed’s speech was called “vile” and highlighted for its controversial message attacking Israel and American institutions including the “fascist” NYPD and U.S. military.

If Mohammed’s speech is any indication of the future of American law, the country may look very different in a few generations. Mohammed treated the commencement speech not as a way to encourage graduating students, but as a way to slam freedom-loving nations and push her political agenda on a crowd of impressionable young adults.

Mohammed pointed out that Palestinians have suffered from Israel’s defensive actions, but failed to mention the attacks carried out by Palestinians on Israel. In her commencement speech, Mohammed said “as Israel continues to indiscriminately rain bullets and bombs on worshipers, murdering the old, the young, attacking even funerals and graveyards, as it encourages lynch mobs to target Palestinian homes and businesses as it imprisons its children…that our silence is no longer acceptable.”

In addition to her attack on Israel, Mohammed also let everyone know how much she hates America and those who protect Americans including our military and police officers. Mohammed even attacked the college itself. “[W]e did all of this in spite of the racism, in spite of the selective activism the self-serving interests of CUNY central, an institution that continues to fail us, that continues to train and cooperate with the fascist NYPD, the military, that continues to train IDF soldiers to carry out that same violence globally…,” she said.

Many, including Lee Zeldin, responded by calling for CUNY to lose funding. The former New York Congressman tweeted, “Raging antisemitism has fully consumed the City University of New York. Until the administration is overhauled and all Jewish students and faculty are welcome again, taxpayer funding must be immediately halted.”

New York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov also condemned the speech tweeting, “if anyone had doubts on what’s going on at @CUNY, and if hearing we held did not convince you, here it is: Vile, unabashed hatred for America, Israel, NYPD, & democracy. I can’t imagine sitting in the audience as a graduate. These are NYC’s future lawyers.”

Despite some pushback from mostly older generations, their voices will soon sadly fade. As the graduates of CUNY Law made their final preparations to go out into a world where they would be making decisions that they realize will not only impact the lives of others, but also their own, they were sent off listening to an anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-military, and anti-capitalist rant.
