The House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government will hear the testimonies of several people who have evidence suggesting that Americans are being censored by the government and “big tech.” According to Breitbart, one of their own editors, Emma-Jo Morris, will testify about her 2020 reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop which was censored by social media and smeared as “Russian misinformation.” Morris wrote the article during her time at the New York Post as the deputy politics editor.
In her testimony, Morris is prepared to defend her credible reporting which she says has been “confirmed by virtually every mainstream news outlet from the Washington Post, to the New York Times, to Politico.” Concerning Hunter’s laptop, Morris said “No one denies that the laptop is real, that the origin story is exactly what I told you it was in the first place.” Morris first reported on the laptop in 2020 and it wasn’t until 2022 that the corporate press confirmed the authenticity of the laptop.
Morris will call out the government for threatening First Amendment rights with their relationship to American corporations, including social media companies which are largely responsible for distributing information to the public. Testifying to this point, Morris will argue “this elaborate censorship conspiracy wasn’t because the information being reported on was false. It was because the information was true, and a threat to the power centers in this country.”
Testifying along with Morris will be Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Louisiana Department of Justice Special Assistant Attorney General D. John Sauer.
Urging America’s leaders to take each case of censorship seriously, Morris declared that the response to this threat to liberty will “determine whether we see a free press as inalienable, or as optional” in America. As voices are silenced by those in power, American history appears to be reaching a critical point that will test of the strength of our foundation as a nation conceived in liberty.
