Family-friendly entertainment from The Great American Family Channel (GAC) is kicking off the holiday season with an impressive 18 new Christmas movies. According to CBN News, the movies will begin playing later this month and will feature faith-filled content along with celebrities Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar, and Gladys Knight. The extensive line-up of new original Christmas movies makes GAC a significant competitor of Hallmark, a network that also produces its own original Christmas films.
Candace Cameron Bure, who was an icon of Hallmark before switching to GAC, shared that she was looking forward to creating movies that value faith, and noted that it was a key difference between the two networks. Bure told Variety, “[GAC is] going to move much more forward in the faith content, and having both — still having lots of movies, rom-coms, and Christmas movies that don’t involve faith, but also ones that really do…I think that’s what’s going to be a big difference in the Great American Family channel, as well as patriotic content.”
Some festive movies viewers can watch this season on GAC include ‘Destined at Christmas,’ A Royal Christmas on Ice,’ ‘Love at the Christmas Contest,’ and ‘A Belgian Chocolate Christmas.’ Candace Cameron Bure will also have a special feature ‘Candace Cameron Bure Presents: A Christmas…Present.’ The synopsis of Bure’s film states, “Maggie and Eric are busy parents of teenagers who embark on a trip to the home of Maggie’s widowed brother to celebrate Christmas. Everyone has different expectations of the perfect holiday. Through a series of transformative events, Maggie learns to embrace the season.”
As Christmas approaches, families can spend time together enjoying the entertainment produced by GAC. Highlighting faith as a theme in some of their movies, GAC is reminding viewers of the meaning of Christmas along with the special moments and memories it brings. Families can get a head start on celebrating this beautiful time of year and watching these heartwarming movies beginning October 21.
