In honor of our military and military families, NBC Sports Next, the technology and innovation division of NBC Sports, is launching their fundraising campaign through GolfNow to raise funds for Folds of Honor. According to The Golf Wire, the “round up” campaign will be held through Memorial Day and will be used by Folds of Honor to expand educational opportunities for the spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. The campaign will be promoted across NBC platforms and highlight service members on social media.
The founder and CEO of Folds of Honor, Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, will be making appearances to support the campaign. Folds of Honor is a military charity organization that began when Lt. Col. Rooney made a commitment to provide scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen heroes upon seeing the young son of one fallen hero standing on the tarmac near his father’s flag-covered casket. According to The Golf Wire, Lt. Col. Rooney shared that Folds of Honor and the military families they serve are grateful to GolfNow and NBC for their support.
According to The Golf Wire, “this effort on behalf of Folds of Honor is a part of NBC Sports Next’s Better Together community impact initiative. Similar round-up campaigns on GolfNow have helped raise funds for Youth on Course and the non-profit organizations aided by the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative. The ongoing campaign for Youth on Course has raised more than $1.5 million since December 2020.” This “round up” campaign also supports Patriot Golf Days which provides funding to support veterans and their families. Patriot Golf Days has provided over 12,000 academic scholarships and raised nearly $60 million for their cause.
The fundraising campaign, which is held through Memorial Day, is accessible to golfers booking tee times through GolfNow, which services over 9,000 courses around the world. Golfers booking tee times will have the opportunity to round up their total cost to an even dollar amount to give to the charity. Giving back to the families of those who gave all, Folds of Honor provides the opportunity for Americans to show our appreciation for their sacrifice. Equipping the families of our fallen and disabled heroes with educational opportunities gives them hope and serves as a reminder that they are loved and supported by their country.
