Palestinian Islamic Jihad Urges Terrorists to Escalate Attacks During Ramadan

Palestinian Islamic Jihad is calling for a “month of terror” during Ramadan, which begins this year on March 10 and ends on April 9. According to The Jerusalem Post, Abu Hamza, the spokesman for PIJ’s Al-Quds Brigades, has urged terrorists to unite in their efforts to destroy Israel.

The unification Abu Hamza is calling for includes the Iranian-backed terror groups in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. Iran is appearing to surround Israel with threats on multiple fronts in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas terror attack. Hamza’s threats do not stop at Israel, however. Trying to convince neighboring countries to support Hamas, Hamza asked, “Isn’t it time for you to take off the garment of slavery and humiliation to America, the Great Satan, and follow the example of the honorable?”

Calling the Hamas terrorists “heroes,” Hamza is intimidating Arab groups in the region to “not lag in the battle” and join the “resistance…on behalf of the Islamic nation.”

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad is one of the smaller Iranian-backed terror groups, but is still a great threat. The terror group has held hostages in Gaza, stockpiled thousands of rockets in the Gaza Strip and M-16 style rifles in the West Bank.

The threat of terror comes amid a potential cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas, being largely pushed by the Biden administration. The United States has recently been advocating a cease-fire despite the IDF’s progress. With Hamas refusing to hand over the names of living hostages, an agreement has yet to be reached.

Still, hopes that a cease-fire will be agreed to during the month of Ramadan on the terrorists’ part are not high as Ramadan has historically been a time for escalated terrorism. Hamza urged terrorists to seize the opportunity that Ramadan gives them to “wash away shame and threaten the existence of the Israeli enemy entity and global arrogance.”
