Pastor Jay Stewart of The Refuge Church is bringing his 3,000 mile-plus bicycle journey he calls ‘Life Ride’ from California to the East Coast to a close this week. Stewart trekked the incredible distance to defend the unborn and raise $1 million to help mothers who choose life for their babies. His efforts began on May 4, the National Day of Prayer, and as he wraps up his journey, he is hopeful that the people who needed to hear his message have heard it loud and clear.

According to CBN News, Stewart is working with the pro-life organization Love Life Ministries, which is a group that seeks to “engage the church across America all denominations to build a culture of love and life [and] to see an end to abortion and to the orphan crisis.” Love Life Ministries provides a refuge for women who have unplanned pregnancies. Raising money for the organization, Stewart hopes it will help them expand their operations to other locations in addition to the 20 cities where they are already located.

Close the one year anniversary of the Dobbs decision that overturned the ruling of Roe v. Wade, Stewart acknowledged the “historic” achievement, but added that the fight is still ongoing and now on “another level” as the issue of abortion rests within each state’s jurisdiction. Stewart urged pro-lifers not to be silent on the issue, but to make their voices heard.

“I believe that this is not a political issue. This is a moral and a spiritual issue, and I think it’s the greatest moral dilemma of our day,” said Stewart.

Stewart shared that he believes God blessed him with the “supernatural strength” to be able to bike all the way from the West Coast to the East Coast of America. Stewart is grateful to have had the opportunity to make a positive impact on women and unborn children. He shared that while the 3,000 mile-plus journey is “the hardest thing physically and mentally” that he has ever done in his life, it has also been the most fulfilling.
