Prayers are being said around the world for Ukraine in response to Russia’s devastating invasion. According to Faithwire, pastors, politicians, and celebrities have united even more people through their powerful calls to prayer. Leaders including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former President George W. Bush are among those who issued firm statements in response to Russia’s actions and in support of the people of the Ukraine.
Condoleezza Rice shared on Twitter, “Russian aggression cannot stand. Pray for the people of Ukraine.” President George W. Bush shared a similar firm statement noting that “Russia’s attack on Ukraine constitutes the gravest security crisis on the European continent since World War II. I join the national community in condemning Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.” He further added, “The American government and people must stand in solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people as they seek freedom and the right to choose their own future. We cannot tolerate the authoritarian bullying and danger that Putin poses.”
Additionally, pastors and faith leaders are speaking out in support of Ukraine calling for strong prayer to protect Ukrainians. According to Faithwire, Harvest Chrisitan Fellowship Pastor Greg Laurie asked for prayers, “not only for Ukraine but also for American leaders who are forced to respond to the chaos,” and that they make “wise and prudent decisions in the next few critical hours.” Pastor Eugene Cho also took to Twitter sharing a picture of Ukrainians kneeling in prayer, writing “Lord, we pray for the people of Ukraine during this difficult time. Protect the innocent and vulnerable. Give wisdom to global leaders.”
