Schnuks grocery stores raised an impressive $850,000 for Folds of Honor through their fifth annual “Round Up at the Register” campaign, according to a Schnuks News Release. The funds raised will be able to provide 170 scholarships to the families of military veterans. The Folds of Honor Foundation provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of veterans who were killed or wounded in action. The check was presented to Folds of Honor on the field at Busch Stadium on July 15 before the start of the St. Louis Cardinals game.

Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck shared, “each year, our teammates, our vendor partners, and most importantly, our customers, join us on the Schnucks mission to Nourish People’s Lives by helping to provide educational scholarships to family members of injured and fallen service members through Folds of Honor…Because of our customers’ immense generosity and our team’s commitment to the effort, we have been able to raise $5.05 million and fund 990 educational scholarships since launching this annual campaign in 2018.”

Folds of Honor is a nonprofit organization honoring the sacrifice of our service members and their families. Founded by Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships for K-12 and beyond to ensure that the families of our fallen or injured heroes can have a bright future. Folds of Honor has awarded over 35,000 scholarships since 2007.

Giving back to the families of our nation’s heroes and recognizing their sacrifice is just one of the ways we can show them our appreciation and respect. Spouses and children of fallen or injured heroes across America have been able to pursue an academic career thanks to the generosity of those who support them. With this year’s Schnuks fundraising event, 170 families will be helped through Folds of Honor, who upon receiving the scholarships will be reminded that they are honored, respected, and loved by their country.
