With over 80 million views on TikTok of her hit single, “In Jesus Name (God of Possible),” Katy Nichole has become a Christian music sensation, according to The Christian Post. The song resonated with millions of people who found its message full of hope and inspiration. Nichole’s story behind writing the song makes it even more special as she shared her journey with God while facing a health crisis of her own.
The Christian Post reports that Nichole, who has been singing in church since she was just fourteen years old, was diagnosed with scoliosis before she wrote the song. After undergoing surgery on her spine, Nichole experienced depression as she was “bedridden due to the pain.” However, after the metal rods and screws placed along her spine were removed during a follow-up procedure, Nichole explained that her depression lifted immediately. She shared with The Christian Post that post-surgery X-rays showed that her spine was straighter than when the rods were in it, and she attributes the “miracle” to God’s work.
Nichole is using her own personal story to help others get through their own difficult experiences. She said that “there’s no story that doesn’t matter to God,” adding that “God’s healed me, so I know He can heal someone else. I’m going to share my story and hope it will encourage others to go and share theirs.” The Christian Post wrote, “the chorus was comprised from Nichole’s journal entries that proclaim: ‘I pray for your healing /That circumstances would change /I pray that the fear inside would flee /In Jesus name /I pray that a breakthrough would happen today /I pray miracles over your life in Jesus name.’”
The “Christian radio giant” K-Love admired Nichole’s song so much that they began streaming it on their platform, even before a label signed her as an artist, which they have never done before. After her song’s incredible success, Nichole signed with the Christian label Centricity Music, and is currently working on her debut album. Nichole is also an ambassador for the Shriners Hospitals for Children and volunteers for Musicians On Call. She hopes that her faithful journey will encourage others who are facing challenges to put their trust in God knowing that He can heal their wounds and change their lives.
