Former NFL quarterback and inspirational icon Tim Tebow is opening a camp for children in the Poconos as part of a project he is undertaking with his foundation, The Tim Tebow Foundation, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. The camp is the newest ministry of Tebow’s Foundation, and will provide an opportunity for all youth and their families of all backgrounds and abilities to grow together. According to The Tim Tebow Foundation, Rising Light Ridge will “emphasize each individual’s unique, God-given abilities, as well as the inherent value they each possess as His children.”
According to The Tim Tebow Foundation, there are over 50 million individuals with special needs living in the United States today, but they are often overlooked due to physical, cognitive, and emotional barriers. The vision for Rising Light Ridge was developed to bring “Faith, Hope, and Love through hands-on ministry to the most vulnerable and marginalized, equipping future leaders, strengthening families, providing opportunities to rest and heal, and much more.” The name was inspired by “Isaiah 60:1 ‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you’ and the beautiful natural rock ledges throughout the property.”
Long term plans for Rising Light Ridge include “residential summer camp, weekend retreats, local community events, adaptive adventure elements, animal-assisted programming, and long-term training and education programs designed to spark true cultural change in how every individual is viewed and valued.” Around the property, there will be opportunities for families to worship and reflect, experiencing “spiritual and emotional renewal” that will leave them feeling refreshed, hopeful, and loved.
Tebow’s vision for Rising Light Ridge is part of his inspirational efforts to make all people feel special, cared for, thought about, and loved.
