Trail Life USA honored President’s Day by teaching troops the faithful values of our Founding Fathers, according to CBN News. The boys learned of the principles that guided our Founding Fathers as they continue on their own paths of leadership and adventure. The CEO of Trail Life, Mark Hancock, explained that the boys consistently show respect for America’s heritage all year long, and he believes it is an important part of “becoming godly men of character.”

Hancock explained that it is crucial for boys to be familiar with our founding documents and the faithful beliefs of our Founders. Carrying the principles of freedom, equality, dignity, and opportunity among others, our Founding Fathers laid the foundation for a country based on good character and citizenship. Within those values can be found courage, something boys need throughout their lives, and having guidance not just from God, but from the men who came before them who strongly believed in God, will lead these boys on a path of success.

To allow the boys to make a connection with the Founding Fathers, Hancock shared their words that represented their commitment to faith and country. Hancock quoted Theodore Roosevelt saying, “‘the same qualities that mean success or failure to the nation as a whole, mean success or failure in men and boys individually.'” Additionally, he quoted James Madison who wrote, “‘We have staked the whole of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves according to the commandments of God. The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded.’”

Investing the troops of Trail Life USA in the future of America by preserving the faith-based values of our Founding Fathers, the boys will grow in their understanding of the importance of faith, citizenship, and patriotism. Though President’s Day comes once a year, the boys acknowledge our presidents and Founding Fathers everyday as they continue their adventures, make decisions, and work together in building a strong and faithful character.
