Concrete Company President Describes Cement, Labor Shortage Issues in South Carolina

Tuesday morning on FOX and Friends, Ainsley Earhardt interviewed President Dan Crosby of Metrocon, Inc., a South Carolina concrete company, to discuss the labor and cement shortage his industry is currently facing.

Crosby explained that his company is only able to take on 60% of the work that they normally do because of the labor and cement shortage. He suggested that most of the problems were caused during COVID when cement plants could not navigate the changing circumstances well. Crosby explained that the demand on construction has “exploded” in South Carolina as many are moving to the state, but commercial projects are consuming much of the cement and concrete. Crosby added that the labor shortage is creating even more issues as the industry cannot keep up with the demand, and asserted that they need people to get back to work.
