Wednesday morning on FOX and Friends, Ainsley Earhardt interviewed Massachusetts florist Heather Sullivan amid the high price tag for flowers and supply chain challenges ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Sullivan confirmed that there have been challenges every step of the way in supplying her flower shop from the growers to the transportation. Due to these issues, Sullivan said that she started preparing for Valentine’s Day before Christmas this year, while normally she does not prepare until just after the holiday. Ainsley reported that there has been a 54% increase in the price of flowers nationwide this year. Though Sullivan is able to maintain the price she has charged for flowers, she affirmed that costs are creeping up. Sullivan is encouraging customers to place their Valentine’s Day orders early to ensure that they will be processed in time for the holiday.
In response to Ainsley’s inquiry about how COVID has impacted Sullivan’s business, Sullivan explained that her business has actually grown as there has been a greater demand for flowers. She likens the growth to people sending flowers when they could not visit family and friends in person throughout the pandemic.
