Michigan Parents Express Frustration With Schools Ignoring Their Rights

Ainsley Earhardt interviewed two parents from Michigan on Fox and Friends Wednesday morning discussing the contents of a since-deleted Facebook post from the state’s Democratic party. The post stated, “the purpose of public education and public schools is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs them to know.”

Tori Sachs and Caitlin Reynolds, two parents from Michigan with school-aged children, expressed their frustration with what they found to be the schools overstepping their boundaries with students. In response to Ainsley’s question as to whether this post, though deleted, shows how the state really feels, Tori shared that she believes it does reflect their true intentions to disregard parents in the education of their children.

Caitlin explained that she is proud of parents who are making their voices heard, and attending board meetings has been one avenue in which they try to make a difference. Adding that parents have a right to know what is going on in their children’s classrooms, Caitlin highlighted the importance of being involved and trying to break through the barriers being set up by schools.
