Tuesday morning on FOX and Friends, Ainsley Earhardt interviewed Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) to discuss the left’s efforts to ‘delegitimize’ justices and the Supreme Court while waiting for the final decision on overturning Roe v. Wade.
Lee explained that he is concerned about the threats to the Court’s legitimacy and predicted in his book Saving Nine that such an effort would be undertaken by the left under the circumstances of overturning Roe v. Wade. In response to who he would blame for the violence and intimidation towards Supreme Court Justices, Lee argued that it would be the political activists on the left, including politicians who were encouraging protestors to show up at the homes of individual justices. He also would blame those like Elizabeth Warren who were threatening to pack the Court.
In response to local officials who say they will not enforce the restrictions if Roe v. Wade is overturned, Lee explained that on the federal level there is nothing for them to enforce, rather the issue will be reserved for each state. He further explained that overturning Roe v. Wade puts the policy decision on the state level as opposed to the federal level, and whether or not officials follow their state’s laws is something that will be handled at the state level.
