TX Senator Sponsors Bill to Ban China From Buying Property in Texas

Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R) joined Ainsley Earhardt on FOX and Friends Wednesday morning to discuss the bill she is sponsoring that would ban China from buying property in Texas after a Chinese billionaire reportedly bought more than 130,000 acres of land in Del Rio near the Laughlin Air Force Base.

Kolkhorst explained that she sponsored this bill because she has listened to the concerns of critical infrastructure and land being bought up by China. The bill not only applies to China, but to North Korea, Russia, and Iran as well.

The reason China wants so much land in America is a conversation Kolkhorst believes needs to be had. Referencing oil, rare earth materials, the coastline, and military bases in Texas, Kolkhorst argued that this is a national security issue.

Easing concerns of critics, Kolkhorst affirmed that the bill does not stop people from conducting business in Texas, nor does it prevent United States citizens or legal permanent residents from purchasing land.
